Woodpeckers

1. There are more than 200 types of woodpeckers in the world!
2. In Ukraine, you can meet 10 species.
3. The largest - American royal woodpecker - had a length of almost 60 cm
and weighed 600 g, but this species is considered extinct.
4. Today is the largest - Great slaty woodpecker (Mulleripicus pulverulentus). It weighs up to 500 g.
5. And the smallest is Bar-breasted piculet (Picumnus aurifrons). His weight is only 7 g, and it looks like a hummingbird in size.
6. In Ukraine, the largest is Black woodpecker, a real flying jackhammer)
7. The smallest in Ukraine is Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. He prefers to eat in the reeds - the forces do not allow him to beat the bark of trees)
